advanced Physical Chemistry I : Chem 531
As part of an Advanced Physical Chemistry I course at Emory University, Professor Bowman has provided this site. Contained within this page are the full series of lecture notes (provided in PDF format, Adobe Reader required), and solutions to examination questions. The topics covered within this course include: basics of quantum mechanics and solvable problems, approximation methods, angular momentum, vibration/rotation of diatomics and polyatomic molecules, atomic and molecular orbitals and symmetry, electronic configurations of atoms and molecules, mean field theories - electronic and vibrational, time-dependent interactions, wave packets and perturbation theory and scattering theory.
