    •  Freezer and Cell Line Database (contributed by Nanci Donacki)
Very useful Microsoft Access database program (486kb) for managing your cell lines stored in freezer. It's easy to use and has a very nice screen. It has features like Add, Edit, Search and more.  (To download it, for Windows explorer, click the file name; for Navigator, right click to save the link, for Mac, click and press on the file name until menu pops up and select to download.)

    • Storage of Cell Line (Hancock Lab) (Accessible only by IE)
      Preserve your cell in 10%DMSO.

  • ·         Cryopreservation Of Mammalian Cells Cryopreservation Of Mammalian Cells (LTI)
Cryopreservation Of Mammalian Cells Cryopreservation Of Mammalian Cells Mammalian cells are cryopreserved to avoid loss by contamination, to minimize genetic change in continuous cell lines, and to...

    ·         Cryopreservation of Mammalian Cells (NUNC)
Most mammalian cells can be stored at temperatures below –130°C for many years*. The viability of the cells after cryopreservation depends on their ability to cope with the usr/localiety of stresses imposed on them during the freezing and thawing procedures. The protocols given in this TechNote will be suitable for most cells. Minor adjustments are always cell line dependent and therefore in each case must be found emperically.

    ·         Reactivating Frozen Cell Lines and Cell Growth for DNA Preparation (Donis-Keller lab)
Cell lines are reactivated and grown to a count of 1 x 108 cells. The cells are pelleted and stored frozen at -80 degrees C prior to DNA extraction.

    ·         Preparation of Lymphocyte Cell Pellet for Storage (Donis-Keller lab)
Following propagation to 1 X 108 cells, lymphoblastoid cells are conveniently stored at -80 degrees C to preserve the high molecular weight DNA in the cells until the DNA is purified. This procedure describes the steps required to harvest and freeze the cells for long term storage.
